*THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR HEARTFELT CONGRATS CONCERNING THE BIRTH OF THE FETUS FORMERLY KNOWN AS LIL GRAVY.. And super special thanks to everyone who sent wonderful gifts. Paintings, baby clothes, letters for him to read in the future....amazing stuff. And thanks for your concern, too. He's recovering well from the meconium consumption. Like I said in the strip, he's full of crap like his father. We should have him home very soon. *THE OBAMA/NEW YORKER COVER.. Wow..I didn't know I would be such a sought-after commentator on the controversy of the week. I was contacted by the S.F. Chronicle, BlackAmericaWeb.com and the Columbia Journalism Review. I feel like I'm somebody!! I'm not sure what I told everyone, but sometimes satire works and sometimes it doesn't. The New Yorker ain't known for it's brilliant satire. I think the cover would've been far more effective if it was the cover of MAD. I remember my college newspaper did a parody of a Modest Proposal, suggesting that we eat the elderly to save money. Folks got so bent out of shape about it, it was unreal. I thought it worked. Other people didn't. Oh well. Yes, the cover was in poor taste. Should there be this huge hullabaloo? Nah. But America never has its priorities straight, so why should it start now? *WHOOPS..I MESSED UP ON THE TIME OF MY COMIC-CON PANEL IN MY NEWSLETTER.. It is on Thursday at 11:30am-12:30pm. Don't be later, it's gonna be packed. The Comics Reporter did a nice recommendation. I'm gonna have a lot going on this year what with the two new books and all. I'll have a package deal for both so come on buy and score a few. *ORIGINAL ART FOR SALE.. I'm also gonna have a ton of original art for sale down in S.D.C.C. (th)ink, K Chronicles, and Knight Life strips will be available for cheap!! Along with a ton of illustration work and more. The earlier you come, the better selection you'll have. Buy, buy!! *OH YEAH, I FORGOT..I HAVE A BLOG.. Sorry folks...I've been on the road and bad with the blog upkeep. *LAS VEGAS... The wifey and I made a little jaunt to Las Vegas to visit ye father and to consume too much casino buffet food. What brought us out there was an Arts conference that scheduled a workshop for myself and co-author Mat Schwarzman of the Beginner's Guide to Community-Based Arts. He brought some supr-talented youth from New Orleans with him, whilst I hawked the book guerilla-style with my "Ask me about my Comix" sign. *THE K CHRONICLES NOMINATED FOR A HARVEY AGAIN!! Yeehaa! High off of my win of a second Glyph award, I got word that the K Chronicles has been nominated for a Harvey for best comic strip or panel for a second year in a row!! I'm up against some serious heavy-hitters including Garry Trudeau's Doonesbury and Patrick McDonnell's Mutts. Yikes!! I need anybody who is remotely involved in the industry to vote for my ass here. *I'M CURRENTLY UP IN SAN FRANCISCO.. ..recording the last two shows of SPARK, the Bay Area Artist documentary program I narrate. I'm getting all teary-eyed knowing that this may be the end, but I'm hittin' the Red Sox/Oakland A's game this afternoon with ye homies to keep my spirits up. Them slumpin' Sox better turn it around!! *ALSO IN SAN FRANCISCO THIS FRIDAY.. A K Chronicles original art will be auctioned off this Friday along with a bunch of other good stuff at the League of Young Voters annual art auction Picture Progress. The event will have food, drink, music, art and will just be overall groovy. Get all the details right here.
