HARVEY PEKAR-R.I.P.
Loading...Man…Just as I was going through my first collection (Dances with Sheep), I got word (NPR) that one of the greatest at auto-bio comics, Harvey Pekar, has passed away at age 70.
Y’see, Harv wrote the intro to Dances with Sheep…waaaay back in the mid nineties when I was just starting out. He was instrumental in introducing my work to the San Diego Comic Con crowd, by talking it up on a panel we were both on.
Here’s what Entertainment Weekly has to say about Mr. Pekar:

That is really a bummer, I saw Helen Mirren wearing an “RIP Harvey Pekar” shirt on the G4 coverage as well (which was surprising yet touching, who knew a big name actress was a fan of an indie comic artist).
