*KONG…
Please keep in mind that I watched the original Kong on DVD (highly, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!) the night before, so maybe I’m a tad bit biased.

First, the good stuff:
-The monkey looked great!! Kudos to Andy Serkis (the dude who played Gollum in LOTR) for coming through again..Serkis also got to die the best way in the movie..
-Naomi Watts..Great actress..She can hold her own with Sean Penn, in a David Lynch movie, and now, with a giant CG monkey. Their relationship was handled well..
-The T-Rex sequence. Good stuff…Fast, crazy and over the top..But not too over the top as..
-The 1930’s setting ..
-The plane fight at the end kicked ass

The bad stuff:
Too long. Waaay too long. Mr. Jackson has now attained the position of George Lucas, where no one is gonna tell him no. If this movie was an hour shorter, it would’ve been great.
-The Brontosaurus stampede. Are you kidding me? That was just horrible abuse of computer animation. Someone should give out tickets for that.
-Jack Black. Even though they changed the character from the original to fit Black’s personality, he still delivered a lot of his lines too “Jack Black-like” *Bleah*
-The bug sequence was just too over the top, too. Using a machine gun to shoot the bugs off somebody?

Overall, I thought it was good..Not great…It had some spectacular sequences, but…I’d give it a weak three stars (out of four).

(If you haven’t seen the “40 year-old Virgin”..Go rent that. The funniest movie of the year.)
