*TOUR UPDATE: CLEVELAND
Yaaaaaawwwnnnn..so we rolled into cleveland at 3 or 4a.m….crashed for a coupla hours at a motel 6 and made our way to the Cleveland Institute of Art for a morning slideshow.

The toughest thing about it was they turned the lights off for the slideshow..i wanted to lie down on the floor and go to sleep. i was on autopilot and wasn’t sure if any of the students were into it. but it turned out they were, so it was a cool show.

The really cool thing was the two Professors, Dom and John, took Mat and me out to lunch in the little Italy neighborhood not too far away from the school. I got this panini that rocked my world. We talked politics and spent a good 90 minutes ranting about the sad state of our federal government.. It was good stuff..

Shout out to Rand and Erin for coming out…from Buffalo!! (not just for the show : )

Next, we headed over to the Funny Times office in Cleveland Hts. The Funny Times has been running my work for years, so i was happy to finally meet the full crew.

Their office is great. Shockingly neat and well-organized..with lots of funny political stuff all over the walls. we ate some cake and took some reading material, and headed over to F.T. publisher Ray Lesser’s house where we were to crash for the night..

Next was a stop over Harvey Pekar’s house. Harvey, as many of you know, is the man behind the autobiographical comic book and movie “American Splendor”..(and yes, i know i am in the DVD extras looking like a moron)..anyway..Harvey and me go way back to my first book “Dances with Sheep”..he did the introduction for it…

So we chilled over there for a minute and caught up..Harv showed us his record collection and some other stuff. He talked about how it was really unorganized and I suggested he contact one of those home makeover shows where they come in and organize everything. I’m sure they’d jump at the chance to have a character like Harvey be a part of their show. Harvey probably thought i was still drunk from the ignatz awards..

We left there for our show at Neopolis. A place that was booked two days before we left. and…well…

Let’s just say that the guy who runs it is really, really nice.

Allright..i’m too tired to write about today’s Cincinnati show, so i’ll write about it, tomorrow. We’re at the Red Roof Inn just outside of Indianapolis, looking forward to the first good night of sleep and the 1pm show tomorrow at the Comic Carnival..Eeks!! I’ve got to draw Comics!!

Cheers,

Keef
